Approved the project of the first stage of the Chelyabinsk metroFebruary 11, 2017
At the public hearings held on May 14 in the Chelyabinsk Architect House, the draft planning of the first stage of the city metro was recommended for consideration.
The approved scheme includes the creation of pedestrian crossings and installation of pavilions.
In total, five metro stations will be equipped:
- Victory Avenue,
- Shopping center
- Revolution square,
- Komsomolskaya Square,
- Traktorozavodskaya station.
In places where there are no underground pedestrian crossings today, they will be installed. In this case, the design of descent stations and pavilions should also be taken into account.
Public hearings were organized to discuss the design of exactly the above objects and receive recommendations on this issue. In addition, during the consideration of these tasks, it became necessary to discuss views on the urban subway.Reasoning guests and experts touched on the need for the city of this project and the final cost of its implementation.
The argument, which led most of the opponents of the project, was the likely lack of demand for the route in the future, because during the Soviet period of project development, the passenger traffic in this direction was completely different, much more.
In response to this opinion, Miroslav Danilchuk, who heads the Chelyabinsk Main Department of Urban Development and Architecture, noted that the discussion concerns the planning of the territory, while the technical task for the construction of the metro has not been signed yet. The reason for the second “against” was the presence on the lands set aside for the project, facilities with the owners of which the documentation was not agreed. The very idea of launching the metro was also criticized as being expensive and unprofitable in the future, and at the same time a proposal was made to create additional tram lines.
However, the participants also found arguments and “for”, citing examples of cities (Yekaterinburg, Kazan), despite numerous obstacles and seemingly multiple disadvantages of such projects, they were able to successfully implement the idea of the city’s metro.
As a result, the draft was recommended for consideration with the publication of the resolution in the near future.
