# How many calories are in the cabbage?

Vegetables are considered low-calorie foods. Nevertheless, they also have their own energy value, which varies depending on what kind of product it is and how it is cooked.

Here, for example, how many calories in cabbage? Let's see what the caloric content of different cabbage and dishes cooked from it.

## Raw cabbage

For an example, let's quote the calorie content of different cabbage species per 100 g of product by increasing:

- Peking (Chinese) cabbage - 12 kcal;
- white cabbage - 27 kcal;
- red cabbage - 25-27 kcal;
- Savoy cabbage - 28 kcal;
- cauliflower - 30 kcal;
- broccoli - 34 kcal;
- kohlrabi - 42 kcal;
- Brussels sprouts - 43 kcal.

## Dishes from cabbage

Strangely enough, but, for example, caloric valuesauerkraut cabbage is less than fresh. It is 23 kcal per 100 g of product. But the cabbage, which has been heat treated, is already more caloric. Increase its energy value additives used for cooking: tomato, butter or vegetable oil, as well as reducing the volume of the finished product.

To calculate the caloric content of cabbage in a prepared dish, you can use the formula: the fresh cabbage (weight) minus 40% is multiplied by the calorie content of the product for 100 g and divided by 100.

For example, for 700 g of white cabbage:

- 700 g - 40% = 420 g;
- 420 g x 27 kcal = 11340;
- 11340: 100 = 113.4 kcal.

It turns out that after extinguishing 700 g of white cabbagecabbage, we get a dish with a calorie content of 113 kcal. Naturally, when adding oil or other additives to the dish, you need to consider the calorie content of these products.
