The main purpose of food is to provide the body with nutrients for its normal functioning. Some nutrients are needed to combine with oxygen, which helps in creating energy for physical activity and for all other internal functions, including regeneration and the creation of cellular tissue. But food and food do not always go hand in hand. And without nutrition, the body cannot function normally. Health ultimately suffers, but energy is not added. The source of active substances and microelements for a healthy lifestyle may not be the usual food, but various herbal remedies.
Nutrition simply means something that feeds. To nourish means to "maintain or replenish the substances necessary for life and growth." Not everything that is called “food” can nourish! And just because the product has a label stating that this product is nutritious does not guarantee that it does have any nutrients.That's why “junk food” is called “junk” - because it has a lot of calories, but no real food - no nutritional value!
Nutrition: macronutrients and trace elements
The nutrients that the body needs to replenish energy and to provide building material for cells, tissues, muscles, bones, hormones, and so on (the entire physical structure and processes of the body) are divided into two categories: macroelements and trace elements.
The term э macronutrients ’has the prefix‘ macro ’(which means“ large ”) because they constitute the largest percentage of the nutrients with which the body functions. Macronutrients: carbohydrates, fats (also called lipids), proteins and water.
The term ‘trace elements’, in turn, has the prefix ‘micro’ (which means “small”), because the body needs them in very small quantities. Trace elements: vitamins, minerals.
The body needs all these nutrients in balanced amounts in order to achieve good physical health and function normally.
Before the advent of fast food, food and food were not a problem.The food was sufficiently equipped with nutrients! It is interesting that now there are epidemics of diabetes, obesity and many other health problems, because the nutritional quality of our products has deteriorated. The food industry, associated with fast food and convenience foods, not only deprives food of most of its nutritional value, but also harms the body with pesticides, preservatives and additives that can be found in processed foods.
