Why does the engine trip?
Engine throttling (or mission) is not the mosta popular breakdown, but very serious, and therefore everyone should be able to notice and eliminate it in time. The most difficult thing in solving this problem is to make the correct diagnosis, that is, to determine why the engine is hurting, because there are quite a lot of reasons for this breakdown. Let's take a closer look at these reasons.
"Engine Trojet" - what does this mean?
Before you understand the reasons for the trip, it is wortha little more to understand the nature of this breakdown. The thing is that before the most common type of engine was a four-cylinder engine, it worked, which is logical, on four cylinders, and when one of the cylinders broke, the engine switched to work on three - that's where the phrase came from - the engine troits - works on three cylinders.
Also, this breakdown is called a mission. Why? The term is borrowed from English - missing, which means missed, missing, missing. That is, the application of this term is also very logical - one of the cylinders is skipped.
So, the nature of the breakdown is clear - the engine is thrown when one of its cylinders stops working.
How to determine that the engine started to trip?
At the mission, the engine sounds very characteristic, the car begins to "roll," instead of the uniform operation of the four cylinders, the owner hears some intermittent hoarse bouillon. This sound, of course, is very difficult to describe in words, but when your car gives it out, you are unlikely to be confused with something.
Trouble engine: the causes and ways to eliminate them.
The most common problem that leads to a tripengine, - the failure of the spark plugs, so first of all we inspect the candles. We remove the candle from the cylinder and carefully study it - the color of the side electrode and insulator should be light brown.
If you see a candle on the candle - it means, with it there can be problems at work - the deposit interferes with the normal flow of sparking. Of course, this candle should be replaced.
When checking the candle, we recommend that you also pay attention to its housing. It should be a light uniform color - black bars or dots indicate problems.
In the event that if you did not notice any problems during the visual inspection, it is still worth checking the spark on the spark. For this:
- Unscrew the spark plug and insert the high-voltage wire into the tip.
- Place the spark plug with the metal housing on the engine - the spark plug electrode should touch the motor housing.
- Ask the assistant to scroll the engine with a starter, and watch the candle yourself. Is there a spark? Is she weak or strong?
If you have a visual inspection of the candle and when you scroll the starter, it gives a good spark - we look for a breakdown further.
High voltage wires
Quite often, the cause of engine throttlingis a "breakdown" of high-voltage wires or their damage. Carefully inspect all the wires, they should not have any plaque, as well as gray, black and brown dots and stripes.
If you have a multimeter, measurethe resistance of the wires, it should not exceed 20 kOhm. In the event that one of the wires shows a large or, conversely, zero resistance, then you have found a problem - one of the wires is defective.
It is not superfluous to verify the correctnessconnecting the wires - on the ignition coils, of course, always indicate the numbers that allow nothing to mix up and connect the correct cylinder to the correct coil, but the error is always possible because of the human factor.
The cover of the distributor of ignition
If high-voltage wires, like candles, youhave arranged, we start to survey of a cover of the distributor of ignition. In the event that a breakdown occurred, you should see a strip of dark color in the vicinity of the contacts.
The breakdown can also be checked as follows:
- Start the engine.
- Attach one end of the wire to the car body.
- The second end of the lead near the distributor cover at a distance of about 0.5-1 mm. The presence of a spark indicates a breakdown.
By the way, the breakdown of the distributor is oftenfaulty spark plugs and wires, which means the following situation is possible - the engine has affected, you have detected a faulty spark plug and replaced it, and the engine still misses the cylinder. Why? It is likely that the candle "hooked" the distributor, and it must also be replaced.
Malfunction of injectors, injector or valve timing
These three reasons do not often lead to aengine, but still they can not be excluded. Malfunctions of injectors, injectors and gas distribution phases can be caused by a variety of reasons, ranging from the use of poor-quality fuel and ending with the wear of hydraulic compensators, and therefore to understand which of the reasons is relevant in your case is very difficult.
We recommend, if inspection of candles, wires andthe distributor did not allow you to detect the problem, turn to specialists who will conduct a full diagnostic, accurately determine and eliminate the cause of the failure.
